Office of Early Childhood Education and Child Care
The OECECC was launched by Parliamentary Secretary for Early Childhood Education and Child Care, the Hon Maxine McKew MP on 18 March 2008.

The OECECC is providing the leadership to achieve a nationally consistent system of quality, accessible and affordable early childhood education and child care for Australian families.
 
The OECECC currently oversees a number of programs aimed at supporting families, the early childhood education and child care sector, and which will give Australian children the best possible start in life. Some of these initiatives include:

Universal Access to high quality early childhood education programs for all Australian children
National Quality Standards for child care and preschool
The Early Years Learning Framework
National Early Years Workforce Strategy
Additional Early Learning and Care Centres 'Weipa and Hazelbrook RFPs OUT NOW'
Home Interaction Program
Rollout of the Australian Early Development Index.
